Free Type 2 Diabetes Classes in Kyle

Rebecca Sweet and Mary Jones, Wesley Nurses with Methodist Healthcare Ministries, are offering FREE Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes classes in Kyle. Do Well, Be Well (DWBW) with Diabetes Class Series Starts March 1

DWBW is a 5-week class that teaches people with type 2 diabetes and their families to manage their disease and stay healthy. We will be offering our next class on Thursdays in March (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th), from 6-8 pm, at the Hays Co. Extension office. Click here to see a promotional flyer.

Then in the fall, we will present “¡Si, Yo Puedo Controlar Mi Diabetes!,” a Spanish diabetes education program on Thursdays from August 30th - October 11th. Look for more details soon.

Help Sought for Fall Spanish Class

The Diabetes Coalition is committed to offering this Spanish Diabetes class over a 7-week series this fall. A team of 2 presenters conducts the 7 sessions, so we are trying to identify Spanish speakers who are RD's or RN's. Hays Co. Personal Health Dept. Offers Diabetes Classes

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Hays County Personal Health Department signed off on a memorandum of agreement to allow the Health Department to utilize the Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes and Si, Yo Puedo Controlar Mi Diabetes curriculums. This is a great partnership, and we look forward to many successful diabetes classes. They are now promoting the classes, so find out more on the Health Department's website.

Please join us for our next Hays County Diabetes Coalition meeting, which is Thur., Feb. 2, at 10 a.m., at the Extension office. Anyone interested in the education about and prevention of diabetes is welcome to participate. We will continue discussing plans for the spring and fall diabetes classes and health programs for local students and their parents.
